The Wedding Day
The Couple: Courtney and Yashama (Shama) Thompson
City of Wedding: Azle, Texas
The Venue: The Orchard
Wedding Date: August 18 2018
Befitting Act of Love
Sentimental, heartwarming and endearing are three words I would use to describe Courtney and Shama’s wedding.
The couple’s intimate ceremony featured so many touching moments, like the washing of the feet, planting ceremony and having family and friends form a circle of love around them.
How they met and fell in love
Courtney is a consultant and Shama is Professor and their paths crossed on the internet. These two love birds met online and fell in love.
The online platform that they met on was Black People Meet. For those of you who still don’t believe you can find love online, I beg to differ with you. There are so many couples who successfully find love online like these two did.
The Wedding
The two chose The Orchard as their wedding venue because the property had cabins that could accommodate lodging for family and friends.
The couple’s intimate ceremony was attended by close family and friends and included a planting ceremony that everyone in attendance participated in.
The white and gold color palette was showcased throughout the wedding including the wedding attire that the couple and the wedding party wore. Their guests also wore white and gold in unison with this couple.
What I loved most about this wedding was the super cute and trendy jumpsuits that all the bridesmaids wore. I also loved the fresh organic theme for the floral and decor.
The Turn Up!
If the hashtag #thompsonturnup was any indication to guest how much fun the wedding reception was going to be, well let’s just say that the hashtag served justice. The couple included so many fun elements and traditions, like that of Courtney’s sorority Delta Sigma Theta’s serenade and “strut” as well as money being showered on Shama as she danced which is a customary tradition from Courtney’s Nigerian culture.
Courtney and Shama found me by way of their Planner Stephanie at Wedding Event Design. The one thing that stood out the most with me for this couple is that they actually did their research when it came to finding and selecting their vendors.
Sydnee Events provided all the floral and decor for this wedding and everything was simply beautiful. I loved the organic theme Courtney and Shama selected and my team and I created custom garlands and table centerpieces using a lot of greenery and everything looked so fresh and organic which was very fitting for all the white decor.
