Wedding Design
Tarrolyn and Jonathan’s wedding design was a modern romantic American infused with Nigerian customs royal affair. The blend of customs and traditions began with the engagement announcements which featured the a custom designed crest. The couple chose a color palette of pink and cream hues with pops of purple. Gold accents were blended into the design in the table-setting, escort signage and decor.
Wedding Style
The Bride wore a Matthew Christopher bridal gown with custom features down the aisle and the Groom wore a Chika Nwosa suit. The couple and their entire wedding party of 14 had a wardrobe change during the reception festivities and made their second entrance and reveal wearing custom made traditional Nigerian attire by Iyke that included gele’s for the bride and bridesmaids by The Perfect Look.
Our Love Story as told by “The Bride”
Our story began in March 2013 at a mutual friends birthday party in Dallas, TX . After Jonathan and I were introduced to each other, we hit it off so well that we danced with each other all night!
As summer approached, Jonathan’s interest in me grew stronger and he let me know every chance we were in each others company. I, however, continued playing hard to get for about 5 months after which I finally agreed to go on a date with him. Our first date was a casual lunch date that went so well we began seeing each other regularly.
During the course of dating, Jonathan invited me to join him on a Tuesday evening at “The Porch” a young adults ministry. That date marked the beginning of our spiritual journey together. We developed a very strong bond between us through worship and prayer and we openly shared with each other our aspirations and dreams for our lives. One normal Sunday afternoon, after church service, Jonathan officially asked me if I would be his girlfriend and the rest is history!
Wedding Day Details
The Bride and Bridesmaids started the day with mimosas and an assortment of fruits while getting glammed for the “big” day in their hotel suite. The Groom and his Groomsmen enjoyed lite bites and shots of Crown in their hotel suite!
The couple said “I do” in a romantic double ring ceremony in the presence of about 600+ guests. The cocktail hour set the tone for the fantastic evening that awaited their guest by introducing traditional Nigerian dishes that were customized for appetizers. Guests were treated to passed appetizers of chin chin, beef suya and meat pies and sipped on”his and hers” crafted signature cocktails “First Kiss and The Royal Crown”.
Reception highlights include both families making a grand entrance onto the dance floor at the onset of the reception activities and two wardrobe changes for the bride and groom and their entire wedding party during the evening. The most memorable moment was the traditional and customary Nigerian Kola Nut ceremony that signifies the joining of two families.
A Brides Perspective
”The highlight of my wedding day was finally seeing our vision come to reality”. One piece of advice I’d like to give couples currently planning their wedding is ”Do not stress, don’t even worry about all of the picture perfect moments. Simply dance and laugh all night and you will have the best time of your life with your life partner.”
