About the couple
Amanda is a Registered Nurse in the ICU at Seton Medical Center in Austin, and a graduate of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center who is currently pursuing a Nurse Practitioner Degree in Acute Care at University of Teas at Arlington. Dustin graduated from Texas Tech with a Business degree and now works as a sales manager at Golds Gym in Pflugerville.

How they met and fell in love!
The two of them met for the first time at Buckle in San Angelo when Dustin was shopping for a pair of jeans which he bought plus with the help of Amanda, he ended up buying some shirts as well. Later that night Amanda ran into Dustin at the bar she was bartending at and they chatted a little bit but went their separate ways.

Over the course of a year they ran into each several more times but never knew each others names and during those “chance meetings” Dustin would occassionally joke with Amanda that she should come work for him at Finish Line were he was a store manager. Some time later, she did just that and found that while working together that conversations between them were easy and they seem to hit it off. Since neither one of them was looking for anything serious, they would hang out together and when it looked like it was getting a little serious one of them would call things off and they would go their separate ways but somehow one of them would always reach out to other and reconnect and things went on between them like this for a while.
A snow and ice storm prevented Amanda from being able to go home for Christmas in 2009 and she called Dustin crying because it would be the first Christmas she missed with her family. Dustin invited her to spend Christmas with him and his family and they both maintained while there that they were “just friends” but his family saw right through it! After that Christmas, the two of them stopped pretending they were “just friends” and moved in together.

How he proposed
Although it wasn’t a grand romantic gesture, Amanda says “it was special”. The night he proposed she had actually gone to dinner with a friend, told her friend at dinner that she felt like Dustin had a ring. Although, nothing had changed to tip her off, Amanda says “I just had this feeling”. Later that evening while at home with Dustin sitting on their couch talking, and doing her nails Amanda says “I looked at him and told him, I think you have a ring; I haven’t looked for it, and I’m not going to but I just have this feeling, and the answer is Yes.” After they finished their conversation, Dustin went to the bedroom which wasn’t unusual and shortly after, Amanda’s cat came out and jumped on the couch and she noticed a ribbon around her neck with a ring. Dustin then got down on bended knee and proposed to Amanda and they spent a few minutes soaking in the moment before they started calling everyone. Amanda says “It was so nice to have it at home with just us, and no one else around”.

The Wedding Details
Amanda, knew she always wanted a fall wedding and she originally wanted her wedding to be outside. The first venue she selected, double booked her and she had to scramble to find another venue with only six months to go until her wedding.
Bridesmaids Dresses: Amanda selected blush pink tulle convertible column dresses from Jenny Yoo at Nordstrom that were elegant, versatile and could be worn even after the wedding and the color complimented even the palest skin of two of her bridesmaids.
Groomsmen Attire: Amanda allowed the groomsmen to pick their own suits and the only requirement she had was for them to be navy.
Wedding Décor: Amanda infused her own gold mercury glass votives and globes with mercury vases provided by Sydnee Event Productions.
Wedding Meal: Simple lasgna and chicken piccatta.
First Dance: “I don’t dance by Lee Brice”

Our Wedding Day
Amanda and Dustin’s Wedding Day included so many beautiful diy touches that Amanda incorporated into her wedding décor which truly made her wedding day unique and personal. Her wedding style shined through in her personal touches, from the welcome sign that greeted guests as they arrived, to the registry table with family photos as well as the initial engraved sand box for the sand ceremony.
The Bride Wore: Essence of Australia, from De ma Fille Bridal salon in Fort Worth, TX. Amanda says “It was everything I thought I didn’t want. I wanted lace, sleeves, modest, and no rouching. I got rouching, daring, fitting, and no lace whatsoever”. Shoes – Badgley Mischka heels and Kate Spade Ked Sneakers in blue for her “something blue.” Jewelry – was Kendra Scott’s new Bridal collection.

What she’ll remember
Amanda and Dustin wanted their wedding day to be a fun day for them as well as their guests and Amanda feels like they accomplished what they envisioned. Amanda says “When we were dancing our last dance privately, we just laughed at all the moments and good time we had”.

Amanda’s Advice to Brides-to-be and what she’d do differently
Amanda says she didn’t have a lot of expectations. “I was very much go with the flow. When people suggested something I would listen but I didn’t run with it. I always had a vision but my vision wasn’t clear, I found things as I went and some I loved throughout and some I didn’t. Everything looks great on Pinterest. The problem is bringing it to life. I would have never found the dress of my dreams if the consultant didn’t just randomly pick it for fun. My first store only picked lace and I just wasn’t sold. My second place, I told her what I thought I wanted and said just surprise me. As soon as I put on my dress I knew it was my dress, I didn’t want to take it off. Don’t be afraid to try everything.”
As to what she would do differently, she says “Nothing I loved my experience and the end result is the same. At the end of the day it didn’t matter what dress I wore, or the shoes, food, etc…. all that mattered was my groom and I. I married the love of my life and I would never change that. My day was perfect in my eyes, and I would never change anything”.
